When is neutral not neutral ?
My 21 PB Lariat does not behave this way in neutral. What is the recall you speak of supposed to address? Sounds like a PIA and I would avoid any update that ”deletes” my neutral. Yes, would make it difficult to go through the car wash.
You sure it wasn't the auto-hold instead of the parking brake?
Regardless, maybe it's just a sign that you don't need to be taking your car through one of those damaging auto-washes... give it some love by hand

Yeah sounds like auto hold. I have a 2021 PB Lariat 502a and I have never, ever, ever had this happen. And my truck is up to date, including the newest OTA that just started going out. The reason it hasn't happened is I turn off auto-hold the couple times I was unfortunately left with little option but to take the truck through a car wash. I just leave the driver assistance screen up and turn it back on once I get through.
The action you described for true neutral should be used in cases where the truck is dead and you are trying to get it out of the garage or something to go on a flat bed.
Anyway, maybe there is something else that we will discover in time. But without you being more detailed on what the "major flash" means, all we can assume is auto hold was activated after your truck went through the updates if they did a master reset, which I think is part of a few of the FDRS side updates, like the BlueCruise one if you have it done by the dealer. BC is the only major update I can think of that would take 6 hours. I definitely got that (although through OTA) and my truck still behaves the same as it always has in neutral.

The flash was the 6hr Blue cruise update. Which activated the Auto Hold. I learned that if you press the "m" button on the console a message comes on the screen that tells you you now have 30 minutes of true neutral or you can just turn off auto hold.
