Default Wheeled my powerboost

Did a family trip up to Colorado and spent two days on the trails up to Crystal Lake/Mohawk Lake. Some pretty legit rock crawling for a stock truck and it did awesome (didn't miss the Raptor I traded in for this). Other than removing that silly front airdam, 35" KO2s and swapping the factory fixed running boards for AMP powersteps (increases ground clearance), truck is bone stock.

Nice! What AMP Powersteps did you install? The website notes that none of them work with the powerboost.

So how did these tie into the wiring on the power boost.
My call to Amp said they are working on it as the wiring is different than the non power boost trucks.

That's weird. I have an instruction booklet that came in the box from Amp that shows exactly how everything is to be wired in - you have to splice two wires on the factory harness that signal driver's side or passenger's side door ajar. Powerboost is no different than any other 2021, you are getting incorrect information.

The only things that's nice to have is a bit extra length in their wiring loom so it can be routed at the front of the hood instead of near the firewall, but that's not a deal breaker by any means.

Did you wind up with any Texas pin striping?

I would love to take mine out on the trails, however I just can't stand the thought of scratching up the paint from limbs scraping the side of the truck. I guess I'll save the four wheel drive usage for the boat ramp lol.

A bit, but not a lot that didn't buff out. I always get the sides of my trucks covered in PPF and the powerboost is going in next week for 3M gloss film all along the sides. That also has the added advantage of being able to use brush car washes without worrying about swirls.

Verified that the same boards were bought, yes same thing.

My discussion started with AMP on mounting the passenger side motor & bracket.

The discussion ended with they won't fit and they may or not come up with a new design for the power boost.

The motor and bracket hit the cooling lines just as Amp said.

Would appreciate a picture showing how you got the passenger side motor & bracket installed.

That was the 2nd to last step and got stopped. Last step was to wire in which again in the discussion the Amp rep said was different.

Have included a picture of that area in question. That's the motor plug in just tied up and out of the way.

Have been looking for the right plugs to extend the wring out and mount the bracket in the rear which was my answer.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, the passenger motor does make contact with the cooling lines. All you have to do is unscrew one of the mounting clamps for the cooling lines in that area and there is enough give to just tuck them up and away from the powerstep motor - cooling lines in that area are rubber so there is plenty of give. This is not a big deal at all to make you stop the install, hope you finish it soon. Oh, the wiring is exactly the same for all 2021s - think about it, the OBDII harness is not different for the Powerboost than it is for any other 2021 F series. All the wiring does is get a signal to the AMP controller that a door is open and transmission is in park. Those two signals are the same for all trucks, Powerboost is no exception.

Thank you again, think I got a tech that was having a bad day and blew some smoke my way.

Did it a little differently on the passenger side motor bracket. Disassembled the hinge, removed / cut off the pin in the motor mounting bracket. Then drilled out the next set of holes & clocked it down 1 spot. Put Gorilla black duct tape on the outside over the old holes and filled them with silicone gasket maker.

Only issue that came up was opened drivers door passenger side went down, easy fix flipped the 2 purple wires, the 2 purple wires are the signal wires for either side to deploy.

Working good. Much better and a lot smoother operating then the factory Ford boards the former 19 Platinum had.

Pictures show the new passenger motor position. 1/8th to 3/16th clearance from the frame.

Motor ended up right behind the hinge with the boards retracted.
