Default Wheel balancing

Got a new set of BFG trail terrains from Costco and have them mount-balanced the tire, I was shocked to see this much counter weight needed. Then I test drove at highway speeds and surprise surprise there is vibration. Seems like an entry level tech chasing weight while getting rushed to get it done. Will find an independent shop to get this right, might skip Costco tire altogether in the future, sucks such simple task and they can’t get it right.
my old truck AT KO2s don’t even need this much weight

Why pay for another balance? Take it back to Costco and complain.

Properly balancing a wheel/tire is an art form. The person that did this must have missed that class.

I want to get this right, Road Force balancing and match-mounting. They simply don’t have adequate equipment to do that and I figured it’s not worth it for them to screw up again. Unbalanced wheel will just create more issues down the line and damage my suspension/wheel bearing.

I had a wheel look like that on my previous truck. The problem was the wheel was bent.

That much weight and more weight across from it on the opposite side makes me think either the machine or operator (or both) was struggling with that tire rim combo. Or perhaps they didn't take that inner weight off and that's why it took so much. Seems like you would have noticed it on the old tires if the wheel is bent. I do agree with going else where for the next attempt. I'm kind of a screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me guy! Jim

No way would I get tires at Costco, Sams, or Wally world...

Also those BFG's could be way off also. They have had some bad tires. I don't buys those anymore either

Good Luck.

The rims are in pretty good condition, it’s not just this one wheel, they used lots of weight on all 4 wheels. They did take off weight from before, as for the weight on opposite side, they are on different plain. Either way, looks like a ****ty job, and I agree will not let them screw me twice. Will let you know once I got another shop fix this.

I know you probably don't want to go to the dealer for tires but have done it a few times and have not had a problem with vibration. Always did a good job and put on the tires that I requested.
