Default What to look for?

By the time my truck (Lariat 502a ) 4x4 is delivered, it will have sat in Dearborn for 4 weeks or longer on a chip hold. Is there anything in particular I should check for due to the delay?

Historically vehicles could sit for months (60 days used to be the "average") without anyone batting an eyelid.

You'll be fine. But I would take it for a good drive and make sure the battery gets recharged

Thanks, I thought I had read at 1 point that fuses may not be fully inserted, more rust than usual on the differential, and a few other things.

when you get it make sure all fuses and relays are seated all the way, engine compartment and passenger kick panel.

The differentials are known to get rusty and look bad but, it doesn't hurt them.

Missing chips, delivery delays mean we as customers MUST do our due diligence when picking up any new vehicle.

Open the hood and look over the engine cover many at some point have been chewed on. (3.5EB)

Standard stuff to look at IN THE DAYLIGHT, paint quality, panel alignment / fit & finish both interior & exterior.

Crank up the radio & let the sound out, Heat / cool is functioning correctly, this includes the heated / cooled seats & heated steering wheel

Make sure sales person pairs your phone, gives info on how to enter your keypad code, sets your my key so things are set to your setting when entering the vehicle with your FOB.

If moon roof equipped cycle the heck out of it. look for wet spots in head liner, and the floors on both drivers & passenger sides.

Just don't take it for granted everything works.

Vehicles can have a certain issue that came to light in the Pre-delivery inspection and the dealer may have a policy if the customer did ask ????

Thanks you, I appreciate the good information. I seem to have a lack of trust with this process of building the truck, then coming back to finish it, after it's sat for awhile.

Take the truck on a drive. If the sales guy wants to come along so much the better. But get it on the highway, drive it like you stole it (I know break in period) but single instance won’t kill it.
Test the brakes, steering, suspension by driving in tight spaces and over speed humps. Listen feel for any abnormal handling.
Keep the radio down but, do play with the HVAC settings. Play with all of your power actuated features while driving.

Especially feel how the engine & trans are performing. Stick it in 4A and 4H (drive in a straight line while in this mode).

Anything doesn’t feel right have the dealer take care of it pre-delivery.

By the way your transmission will adapt to your driving is true but, if its shifting randomly or hitting gears hard then, have the dealer look at it pre-delivery.
