It is a sensor that tracks your eyes to insure you are watching the road when using Bluecruise or Adaptive cruise control. There is another one located above the center display screen.

I've ordered a 25 Lariat and I'm sure it'll likely have those eye sensors just wondering or hoping there's a way to turn them off. I won't be using Bluecruise.

Yes, they can be deactivated with FORScan.

That's an IR blaster (IR illumination LEDs) for the eye tracker component of bluecruise, aka CMR, aka driver monitor camera. The camera is in the dash next to another IR blaster. That's the system that tells you to look at the road. If you don't want to use bluecruise and would rather use the hands-on portion of lane centering, you can disable the eye tracker with forscan and never get bothered by it again.

They have them in Subaru's and they are annoying as hell. I cannot believe Ford had put them in the F150's.

Funny enough, nanny obsessed Toyota doesn’t have them in the Land Cruiser unless you get the premium package.
