What do you inspect?
So I thought this would be a good thread for people who are about to get their new trucks or even a used one. What do YOU look/ inspect when buying your new truck/car? Everyone may look at things different or not think to look at something someone else does, so thought why not state what ya look at to help others!
Now this will be my second new truck I purchase and to be honest I was basic at first. I checked paint condition, under carriage, popped hood see if anything stood out. That was really it for me.

For my 2022.. I am going to look at the bottom for rust and check to see if the doors and hood are all aligned correctly and flush. Since it's new, I don't need to look under the hood.
Oil Level
Tire Pressure
Coolant Level especially but all fluids before I leave
Lug nuts not to check torque but see if any are really loose or cross threaded and in crooked.
Undercarriage for rust
Like someone before said Gap alignment
Lights are they all working
Check for dents or scratches

My March 7 order is scheduled for delivery in the next few days. It was built July 28, will give it a good once over. Just look for the obvious, for sure pop the hood and look inside. you do have a warranty in case you miss something.

My current truck is the first new vehicle that I didn’t inspect the undercarriage. It started pouring rain and I just forgot. Well I got bit big time with rust. Never in a million years would I expect to see so much rust on a brand new truck. If I had a do over I’d make them pull the truck under cover and inspect the undercarriage.
Make sure all the piece parts are there - boxlink brackets, trailer module sensor, stickers, etc. Once you leave you may have a hard time getting them.
Check paint, interior for defects. Again, once you leave they may accuse you of the damage
Operate everything, push every button. Yeah I know it is under warranty but it’s easier to document discrepancies at delivery

All the above advice is spot on. Just take a video or pictures of the inside and outside in case you miss something. One time I found a large dent in my new 2016 Explorer after I got it home. I had taken pictures at the dealer before leaving and you could see the dent clearly. My dealer had no issues fixing it and believed me before I even mentioned that I had a picture of it, but I certainly felt better showing them the photo than looking like I’m trying to pull a fast one. Some dealers would not be so nice especially after hearing horror stories on here.
