Default Warning Tones- Changes Speakers

Evening,

this issue has been to my dealer twice and they can’t figure it out. Maybe someone else here has this issue too.

so 9 out of 10 times when I start the truck my warning tones come out of the instrument dash (door chime, backup sensors, warnings). This is incorrect. They stay coming out of the dash until I shut it down. Then maybe the next time I fire it up it corrects itself, but usually not. It’s a crapshoot.

see attached video. First part is the system working correctly ( sound comes through truck speakers) then at about 35 seconds is the next day and it not working correctly.

anyone have a fix for this? Tired resetting the sync, disconnecting battery. Dealer tried to tell me it’s normal twice. But I’m not having it.

also note shifter that is sticking. Dealer ordered replacement but they are on national backorder.

update…..

1. Ford said they would contact me. Nothing. No help.

2. dealer says this is “normal operation”. No way in hell is one time you start the truck it has one sound and the next time it sounds different. Any advice from anyone moving forward? I have tons of videos that show different tones when I Use the truck.

So far this truck sucks. Got stranded yesterday because the gear shift failed and could not get it out of park. Finally got it going but it’s now stuck in drive. I used to be a Ford fan boy but this is too much.

Here’s another video to show the issue some more including driving down the highway.

Note that when you start the truck, it either sounds normal or not and stays that way till you shut off the truck and leave it for 20-30 minutes. When you start it back up it’s a crap shoot what you are going to get.

I’m hoping Ford will step up and direct my dealer on what to do. When the dealer says “that’s normal” then usually you are in for a long road.

Mine does that all the time. It's 50/50 when I start the truck if the sounds are coming out of the dash cluster or the speakers. It 100% comes out of the dash if I use the remote start.

This is not a new problem. We had this occur with my wife's 2017 Escape. This was on top of other issues we were having, so we traded it (and took a loss) in and leased a 2018 Escape. Never had a problem with the 2018. That vehicle was perfect.

When we turned the 2018 in, the wife didn't like the Escape redesign so she went with the Edge. The Edge, on top of other issues, also has the tone problem. After many complaints, the tome problem has never been fixed with numerous trips to the dealer.

If I wasn't a Ford employee, the wife would already be in a competitor vehicle. And if the Ram was made with aluminum, I would be driving one. I'm not saying other manufacturers don't have their problems, but Ford keeps on missing with the minor ones and, quite frankly, it's getting old and nothing seems to be getting addressed.

Dang man, I was hoping to see a positive update.

What I have noticed...
- if I remote start, the tone is coming out of the dash.
- If I get in the truck & depress the brake petal until I hear it fully depress & make a "click" noise, 9/10 times it will do the normal start up noise (through the speakers).
- When it consistently plays through the dash, I open the door & just hit the start button. Usually resets the tone to normal. I just leave the door open, reach in, & press the start button.

I noticed after the truck updated the other day, it was better for a few days but now back to normal 50/50.
Was planning on seeing if turning off the welcome lighting helped & getting the battery tested.
From the research I did, sometimes it could be a bad battery. I think the AIPM or APIM (not sure of the exact acronym) needs to be replaced.

The APIM on our Edge has been replaced. Twice. We keep taking it in for this and other issues and all they do, per Ford, is perform software updates. We're to the point that we're just riding the lease out. The wife wants to look at other manufacturers for her next lease, and I don't blame her.

Can't blame you there. I looked to get something different this go round but didn't think I would have this issue again. My 2018 did it also.
