When I picked up my 2025 Platinum, the walk away locks were functional. I did not notice if there was a setting for them or not at the time. After a visit to a local dealer for a window issue, they are no longer functioning and there is no setting to select on or off. I returned to the local dealer to ask about the function, and after a lot of discussion and searching Ford’s manuals, they declared the function only available on the Lightning, but no other F150 versions.
So the questions are; 1. How did my truck have that feature that the local dealer said was unavailable on non-Lightning F150’s? 2. How do I get it back? Thanks.

It is possible that the WAL setting was disabled by an update. Send me the VIN and I can check. If that is the case, you would need FORScan to fix it.
@Vern21 I got your message, but responding here so the info is out there in case it happens to anyone else. OTA history shows you got an APIM update on 1/10/26. The screenshot below shows which location in the APIM has the toggle switches for WAL and WALF. It also shows that the config of your truck shows in that location. You show a 0 there which means WAL and WALF is disabled. That 0 would need to be changed to a C to re-add the toggles for WAL to your touchscreen. The dealer cannot help you without involving Ford engineers. If they try to reconfigure your APIM, it will put that same data that is on there now right back on.
What I do not have a good explanation for is why WAL is disabled in the BCM. OTA history does not show you have gotten any BCM updates that could have messed up the config there. That part is strange to me, but if WAL used to work on your truck, I am sure it can be fixed with FORScan. Everything WAL related in the BCM is in this section, and your ab data shows everything zeroed out in your BCM:
If you have FORScan, I can try to help you fix it. Step one would be to add the toggles to the touchscreen and then troubleshoot from there.
@rugedraw, thanks for digging in and providing the info. I do not have forscan, so I’m out there.
I assumed there was an update OTA or that the local dealer did when they worked on my window. The gages on my display were changed when I got back in the truck after their service on 1/30, so I know they changed something.
I find it curious as well that it was functional in the truck at all. The local dealer said it should not have been. I’m curious if anyone else has it on their non-Lightning from the factory or turned on by a Ford dealer.
You are the second member that has had problems after a dealer service in the last week. Another trend had to have a new APM installed after the dealer attempted to reset the BMS, under warranty fortunately.

I don’t feel like it was a “dealer problem” per se, since it appears that WAL should not have been an option on my truck in the first place, and perhaps got “reset” at the local dealer. I just don’t know how it got toggled on in the first place.

Did WAL ever actually work in your truck, or was it just a button in your touch screen?
