Default Undesirable Driving Experience

Hey folks. I've been hesitant to make another "transmission issues" thread but I haven't found anything that really matched the problems I'm having and it's driving me nuts. It's not un-drivable but it is an annoying experience. Here's a breakdown:

Truck2023 F150 XLT3.5L V6~7,500 Miles

Issues

Hard Shifting
It's a 10-speed transmission, of course, and I. Feel. Every. Shift.
Particularly bad in lower gears.

Braking Shudder
I haven't really been able to describe this to anyone (techs, friends, family) effectively.
When braking or just slowing down the truck just feels like it shakes.

"Weird" Braking
The truck doesn't stop when I expect it to. It's like I'm braking, feel like I'm about to stop, then it shifts to 1st and does a hard stop.

Braking Clunk
Occasionally when soft/easy braking (essentially the opposite of slamming on the brakes) I'll hear and feel a clunk from underneath. Maybe around the center.

I think that's the limit of my complaints. I've taken it to a dealer service center twice. The service center just reset the learning tables the first time. Couldn't replicate the second time. I had a conversation about it with my standard mechanic after an oil change and he just said he's seen weird things with late model vehicles of all makes; no bearing on this particular issue I suppose.

Anyway... what am I hoping to get from posting here? Looking to get some insight from the collective group. Maybe someone has seen a similar post or seen a similar issue. Maybe a Ford rep sees this and wants to help in whatever way they can.

My next steps other than posting are taking it to the service center once more and insisting on taking a drive with some folks there. Might even try driving similar models of the same year to compare cuz maybe I'm just crazy and this is how these drive.

I've been missing my 2011 F150 dearly but really hoping I can start to find some resolution here. Thanks for reading and thanks for any input!

Ask your dealer to reset the adaptive learning. You can also do it with Forscan. After the reset drive the vehicle for at least 20 min before going hard on the throttle. Might want to have them double check the fluid level while you are at it.

Did you buy this used or new? If used, how many miles did it have? Did this just start? Warped rotors is a good place to start for the brake issues.

I have experienced some of the mentioned issues with my 23" STX 5L basically like abrupt shifts or delayed then abrupt shifts. Overall it drives fine, it just like thinking to myself, these shifts should be smoother and at times more decisive (like make up your mind which gear you need to be and then shift smoothly trans!).

@Djw.pro Thanks for the input! I was skeptical but thought it wouldn't hurt to clear the adaptive learning tables. I did that last night and it's a hell of a lot more tolerable. It's been done before so I'll see if it stays tolerable.

@fatty 239 This was a dealer loaner so it's Used. I got it at 4,500 miles. It's been doing this as long as I've had it. I'd considered rotors for the braking shudder but it's somewhat intermittent.

@23 F-150 XL Good (maybe) to know I'm not alone! You should try clearing your adaptive learning tables too!

I can't help you, but can say my '23 Plat is very similar. I'm pretty disappointed for almost a $75G truck. I've taken it in for service several times and have been told "everything is normal" every time. I would also add to your list its almost like feeling the road through the pedal and passenger side floorboard. I guess it could be called a vibration. This is my first Ford, I may have to go back to the brand I swore to never own again

i have a '22 f-150 and a '23 Tahoe. you really can't feel the tahoe shift... much quieter, though this a an eight cylinder. the 150 does occasionally make a big bounce coming to a stop. they both have less than 10k miles on them.

I have the 5.0 with the 10 speed and in the beginning it shifted good but you could feel some shifts and down shifts. After the last update it smooth as silk. Love how it shifts now.

@Donas Oh brother. I have that too. I've described it as a grinding feeling in the pedal. Like I said in my original post, I loved my 2011 F150. Had no reason to think a newer model would be such a turd. Real jealous of @gagliano7's working truck.

My 2022 is hard to make stop..I end up having to come to an uncomfortable and abrupt stop...Much different than my 2010 which I should have kept..
