You will die of old age before rust on the differential will be a problem. Actually your grandchildren will die of old age before its an issue.
That also goes for the rust on the CV axle as well.
Surface rust on exhaust components isnt unusual.

If it really bothers you, you can spray the differential housing with any one of the oily things they sell. Amazon has lots of options. I actually sprayed used motor oil before and it worked well.

How is the rust "thick"?

on the hanging brackets and the area right where it connects to the wheels it's pretty thick. I would especially think for a truck that is only 2 months old

Did you use a depth micrometer or a vernier caliper to measure thickness? I still dont get how you are figuring thickness on rust.

Lol I guess i'm not specifying an actual mm depth. I'm saying its thick enough in those areas you cant see any metal. its all contiguous rust if we're getting technical

Ford guys like all other brand loyals will defend the Ford. If your plugs blow out.... that's normal. If your IWE fail, that's normal. Lol. Same way with any brand. All day long people tell me how great their brand is while their vehicle is broke down and in my shop. Lol. JEEP guys are about the only ones who are honest and say "yeah thats just a jeep thing" every time the same things break.

The rust on your exhaust is excessive to me. Like others said the axletube and such will never be an issue. Still pretty sorry that it's like that. If it makes you feel better though, I service several Chevy up to 2q models and they have the same issue for several years. There is no excuse IMO for a 21 to have more rust than a 75 pickup. Regardless of brand. It's just the decline in the workmanship. IMO.

I refinished my 21 in a chassis paint. Pain in the butt and probably not worth the time I spent. But my labor and my shop is free to me.

And yes it will cause issues eventually. We cut and grind out wheel bearing hub bolts and such daily. Rust is bad. Ford rust or not.

do you think the exhaust rust is bad enough I should take it to the dealer to have them look at it since its only a couple of months old or just pay to get the undercarriage coated as a couple guys mentioned?
thanks for the reply

Without looking I think warranty covers rust for a year. So it wouldnt hurt to take it in to the dealer but I suspect you will get some fight out of them over it.

.
True.
On a good note I was told the IWE issues were solved for 21+ trucks as they got away from vacuum actuation.
What I dont get and have no excuse for is that some trucks still get cam phaser issues. Thats beyond unacceptable to me. Luckily, the 3.3L Duratec isnt known for that.

Undercoating over top of that will likely cause more issues than leaving it be. A good shop would get that off or ospho it or something. But fo you REALLY want your new truck disassembled and cleaned up. Lol. It presents a pretty impossible to answer question.

Por 15 after using their metal prep is what I did. The GM trucks I mentioned are pretty bad on the calipers, steering knuckles and a few other places. Pretty sad to see. Especially with trucks costing 50k or more. Back when they weren't so much higher than a nice camaro/mustang they had next to no options but I swear the build quality was better. The small details. When I put m y 21 on the lift I found nearly every wire loom and brake line clip had been missed. Same for the trans line. They just didn't bother to put the wires/ lines in the clips. Lol. On an aveo or festiva I might over look it. But on their most expensive vehicles? I'd say I bought my last new one. Ive said that before too though. Lol
