Whether on Auto or Last, when remote starting, my 2021 Lariat will not turn on seats and steering wheel. Have had it to dealer, updated software, no dice. Comes on when I press Start after getting into the running, cold truck. Hrumph.

Not a dumb question. They are ice cold when I get in after a remote start. On my 2015 by the time I cleaned the snow off and got in the warm wheel was really nice on my freezing hands. On my 2021 the wheel is still ice cold when I get in.
It gets warms quickly once I hit the start button. Usually within 5 minutes or so it's good and hot. It's just not doing anything during the remote start.

That's odd, mine definitely turns on. They take time to warm up, so if I remote start and get in within 5 minutes it's not always perfect. Also the seats don't heat very well when someone isn't sitting on them because the material isn't pressed on the heating element. But have never had an issue where the steering wheel wasn't warm from a remote start and given time. When the truck detects it is above 50 degrees out, and if set to auto, it won't always turn on the steering wheel automatically. So if your truck has a higher than reality idea of the outdoor temp it might not turn it on, I suspect this happens for some that park in a garage.

Wish I had some idea of what to tell you. Looks like you and I have similar trucks, so can't just blame it on early programming unless you got your really early in the 2021. Mine was built in April 2021 and I know Ford had worked out some kinks by then.

That is the odd thing. It doesn't matter how long it runs. Nothing get hot and it works backwards from my 2015. When set to auto if you remote started it, the seat and steering wheel would turn on and get hot quickly. However once you hit the start button they kicked off and you had to turn them back on if you wanted them on. For me that was perfect, Never sat down on a cold seat but it didn't bake me out either. This truck freezes me when I sit down and roasts my back 5 minutes later. It works totally backwards and I wish it followed how my 2015 worked. That was perfect for me.

I always thought the seat heaters would turn off if the seatbelt wasn’t clipped. My wife uses her seat heater on the passenger side and when she gets out for any period of time while I wait, her seat is cool when she returns even with the light still on. I rarely use mine so have not tested this theory…
