Truck Bed Shell
I have always had soft tanneau covers, and am now thinking of going with a full shell. Just basic storage - no camping, etc.
What are the best brands and why? I have looked at the Leer and the RSI Smartcap, but see a lot of others on the road. Which do you like and why?

Personally, I will either choose the Leer 180CC or the ARE MX HD for my upcoming 2021.
I have a Leer 180CC on my 2007, and structurally it has been great. I've loaded up the roof rack with a lot of weight (the 180CC rack is rated to 300 or 400 lbs). Some of the smaller details have been frustrating though. The locks don't turn 180 degrees anymore, but they're still functional. I had to fully rewire the interior lights because the factory harness was poorly made. I would buy it again, though.
The ARE MX HD is the alternative cap I'm looking into. Unlike most caps, it has an independent internal frame to reinforce the roof rack. So the rack is rated to 500 lbs.
Most non-commercial or non-HD racks are rated to 150 lbs or less, which would be insufficient for my use. Otherwise I would buy the much cheaper Leer 180 or the ARE MX.

My local dealer sells Leer and Snugtop. The Snugtop are shipping sone for the 2021 & 2022 trucks although I was told that it would take 3-4 months to get my shell. Lots of variations on the window to the cab and the side windows and how well the rear locks and the tinting provided by the factory. Roof load also varies which may be important.
