I am curious if other people are now able to duplicate this issue consistently and if there is a solution that works to resolve the problem. Since not all people use the trip screens, they may not realize that this issue is happening, but I’m sure there are many more people that are affected. It also sounds like it’s been happening since 2021. As best as I can tell, it affects all F150 cluster models and other Ford Models as well.
I have a 2023 XL and this reset problem just happened to me. Only thing I did different is I was sitting in the truck with the key in the ignition (no accessories on just slid the key in waiting for my kids to leave for school) for maybe 5 minutes. When I started the engine the trip showed no mpg and no miles driven. About 20 minutes after I started the truck the screen glitched out. I turned it off then restarted and the screen came back but the trip was still funky.

Default Trip meter resets on its own randomly

It’s happened several times on my 2022. It always happens in my case when it’s been sitting either for a short time or longer. I get in, crank it up and notice MPG and mls reset to 0 and the MPG increases slowly. I have gotten to where I take a picture of my dash display every time it happens just to document how often it happens. I keep hoping a software update will fix it but so far nothing has. Would love to talk to a Ford tech and tell them the issue. It is not uncommon from what I read on this forum.

Had my truck at the dealer today for this, they acknowledged the TSB SSM51972 on it and re-flashed with the new software. We'll see if it happens again...they tried to charge me a diagnostics fee until I reminded them that it is still under warranty and this is a known issue.

Glad you found a solution. Watch and make sure it doesn’t happen again. The TSB says to replace the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) if that doesn’t fix it. I’ll take mine in the next week or so. Went through a period of 2 weeks where mine reset 3 times. Usually it won’t happen again for 6 months or so.

Yeah that's how mine was behaving, it will go months before it shows itself again. I noticed the last time when it happened there was a weird chime sequence when I got into the truck and put the key in the ignition, almost as if there were two chimes, one coming from under the the dash and one then that comes through the speakers. First the under dash chime triple tone, and then the speaker chime, same tones. Strange, but I think this indicates that something is resetting in the computer.
