Mechanically, the vehicle is decent. The door closing is pretty tinny, but that's it. On the electronics side: the trip meter resets when I most need it. The dashboard even rebooted once while I was driving down the road. Officer: how fast were you going? Me: IDK, bro, my dashboard rebooted. And, the entertainment display reboots randomly, but usually reconnects to my phone. Once it just went black for a day or so.

This is the first time I've bought a Ford. My wife bought a Toyota, and I'm feeling pretty stupid.
dbranson My issue still has not been resolved. My reset has nothing to do with doors left open. Just turn off the engine, go into a store, come out and it’s back to zero. The only thing I have done is take a picture of the dash when it resets and hopefully show it to the service manager next time I take it in. It’s happened about 4 times over the past 7-8 months. I sure would be interested in anyone who could narrow down the cause of this.

I’m already expecting the “ we’ve never seen this issue before” excuse so I started taking pictures before and after the reset happens. It’s pretty obvious I didn’t do a manual reset since that will also reset the run time as well, but this “random reset” won’t. Plus just leaving the doors open duplicates the issue so I am hoping that will help them troubleshoot the issue much faster.
I'll look through my paperwork and see what it says. If I can't find it, I'll give my service advisor a call, but its been about at least 6 months since they did it so he may not remember what exactly they did.

so, not sure about the other guy, but i did look through my paperwork and it says that they called the hotline and were told to "perform all available module updates. completed all updates possible." that seemed to have resolved my issues. hope that helps.

My 2023 XL is having the same exact issue. I took it to the dealer just so they could see what was going on. I did not leave it just let them take pictures while it was happening. They had that wow-I-have-never-seen-anything-like-this-before look on their faces. Come on, it is not that rare of an occurrence obviously. I will leave it with them when I get my first oil change in a couple of weeks. Besides the trip meter resetting, occasionally my chosen screens reset to default on my instrument cluster, too. I don't know if this is normal, but when I start my truck, the instrument screen is never on the screen I left it on. It always reverts to the first screen. So if I turn the truck off when it's on the MPG screen, it will always be back on the digital speedometer when I start the truck again. These all seem like seriously silly issues to have in a truck that is so mass produced. You would think Ford would issue an automatic over-the-air update to solve these problems.

My experience is it only does it when I'm running E85, premium works as it should. Don't know the correlation or if that's the same for anyone else but that's my first hand experience. (23 xl 5.0)

Default Sam eissue here

I have the same issue on my '21, Resets randomly and the MPG will read 0.0 but everything else remains, miles to empty, miles traveled etc... Just had it at the dealer and they told me they don't know what would cause it and there are no TSB's on it . Such BS when you pay that much money for a new truck.

This may apply...

SSM 51972 2021-2023 F-150 - Trip Odometer And Miles Per Gallon (MPG) Information Resetting After A Key Cycle - Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) With 4.2 Inch Screen
Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with an IPC with a 4.2 inch display and built with minor feature code HKRAB may experience a resetting of the trip odometer and MPG information after a key cycle. To confirm a vehicle is built with minor feature code HKRAB, review the build information by double-clicking the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the upper left corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS). This condition may be due to the software level of the IPC. To correct this condition, reprogram the IPC to the latest software level using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). Perform a brief road test after the software update to confirm the concern is no longer present. If the concern is still present, replace the IPC. For claiming, use causal part 10849 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards Manual.

Thank you very much! I will pass this on to the dealer and see if it would apply to mine.
