I have 2000 miles and have yet to notice any transmission clunking in higher gears. As a matter of fact, the best the truck rides is higher speeds and gears.

Lower gears is a different story. Deceleration is horrible from 5th gear down. It is jerky and feel every shift like a boat in rough water; my passengers are calling it out. City driving is terrible as the truck is jerking and clunking around the whole time. If we are planning on city driving, we won’t even drive it anymore.

Put it in sport mode and it will shift a lot less.

I wanted to say this. Truck shifts like butter in higher gears and in general. The only time I felt clunking was when I was using autopilot and the truck was hunting for which gear to use, 5 > 4 was rough and startled me.

I've noticed this a few times on my '21, never an issue on my '17. Just figure its learning my driving habits. I'm at 1500 miles no and half are highway driving which I don't think helps.

Ive got a 2021 f150 xlt fx4, and up until yesterday i didnt really notice the clunk. I now have 600 miles on it, and im getting used to this truck compared to my Ram 3500. The Rams transmission was real clunky. I got used to those loud noises.
my f150 does make some noise and you can feel it. On the hwy when it downshifts from 10 to 9 there is a definite thud. Also from 6th to 5th gear, same noise. Im also getting loading and unloading clunk of the driveline at lower speeds. Its not terrible, but i dont like it.

I bought my truck last month, build date of 7/7/21. It’s a great truck so far but the transmission has me concerned. When there’s little to no throttle at cruising speeds, and then minimal RPM’s are added to accelerate lightly, the gears re-engage and clunk. I think it’s mostly 10 to 9 and 5 to 4. Granted, I only have about 2,400 miles on the truck so far, but the behavior has been pretty consistent. Please let me know if anyone has (or resolved) this issue!
