Transmission...
I have a 22 150 STX 2.7 with 110k miles. (i know that's a lot of miles. All highway. I drive 125 miles round trip 4 days a week for the last 3 yrs).
Question, I'm scheduled to get the transmission service performed next week. I've read a couple of conflicting post that say, if you haven't had any problems, you #1) shouldn't get it drained, filter changed and filled. #2) Get it drained, filter changed, and filled, or #3) get it drained, flushed, filter changed and filled.
BTW, transmission is shifting great.
What should I do?
Thanks is advance!!

I tow about 20% of the time and have 45k on mine. Was on the fence about an AtF change but just did it with a filter as well.will have another 2k on within two weeks much of them towing 5500lbs.
I understand your dilemma, and concerns and questions. I have a 2021 XL 4x4 Suoercab long bed with 5.0 and 101,000 miles. For the first three years I drove 100 miles a day to work and back. And I live in Texas so I drive to the East Coast a few times a year too. My transmission has been amazing. No issues. No hard shift, or clunking or anything.
I have read that most issues with the transmission are not fluid related but rather design and or driving habits related. I have read Ford recommendations for just using the check level / fill hole for using a fluid extractor and getting out as much as one can and filling without changing the filter, since the torque converter and cooler hold so much fluid. Then just do it again after 30k miles, rinse and repeat and that will be as good if not better than dropping the pan. Personally I believe if the filter is clogged and needs changing then I'd probably have way more issues than what can be fixed by changing the filter. I have had multiple trucks with over 300,000 miles that I never did anything to the transmission. I change the motor oil and diffs, and transfer case all the time.
I am waiting for the temperatures to drop out of the 90's before I crawl underneath and decide whether to drop the pan or not. I need to see how the heat shield attaches and if it looks like I can drop the pan easily enough in my driveway by myself. If I think I can, then I will go ahead and change the filter. If it looks like a major pain in the butt I will just extract and fill. I changed my diffs this way too. Why break a perfectly good seal just to get a few more ounces out. Plus I filled a bit and extracted a second time before I filled and closed it up. That's my two cents with the experiences I've had.
I will keep reading this thread and others for more info. Cheers
