Default Trailer TPMS

Got the ford system for my trailer. Installed the new 7 pin and 12 pin receiver in the truck, attached the tpms receiver to the harness and it shows up in the truck. Going to have the sensors put in the wheels, but my trailer is only a single axle. Would like to install one other sensor in the spare, so a total of three sensors. Looks like when you go to add them to the truck, the first question is how many axles, 1 or 2.

To those who have set it up, can you do 3 wheels?

How about putting the other sensor on the truck's spare tire?

What was the part number for the trailer TPMS system?

thought about it, but that has its own issues. Far different pressures, and most times the truck won't be seeing the trailer sensors.

TPMS LC3Z-1A189-AJ is the one I bought. Don't need the yaw sensor, but have it if I want to add it later.

I believe you'll find that the TPMS in a non-rotating spare will go into 'sleep mode' and not report or not update the displayed pressure from any initial reading you may get when first installed, if you even get that.

'Sleep-mode', requiring rotation to awake, is what allows TPMS to have a very long battery life.

That's why, when you start your truck in the morning, before driving you see 'saved' pressures from when the TPMS went to sleep, and then they update after only a few rotations when you start moving. Also why FordPass warns the tire pressure displayed in FP is "delayed".

If the spare tire pressure never updates, then of course it's useless for monitoring purposes, though it'd be ready to put in service with TPMS reporting if ever needed.

Any non-reporting or 'missing' TPMS (e.g. if you set up two axles with 3 sensors) is also likely to generate nuisance TPMS alarms / warnings on you dash display.

Bottom line, the system just isn't designed for spare tire monitoring capability.

After pulling the trailer for a bit, was able to get them added to the screen. Had to wake them up, then do the air down until it honks bit.

Did you guys run into any issues getting the sensors installed in the wheels? I am reading that there could be problems with the sensor size, and that they only fit certain rims.
