I have the lightest ceramic tint available on my current vehicles and I like it. I live in Florida and you can tell a big difference.

Even with the tint I also use a sun shield.

I've had the windshield tinted for years and wear polarized sunglasses. I've never seen "a rainbow" effect. I have ceramic tint if that makes a difference.

I’m in Fl. Not legal to put tint in front windshield but I did the ceramic tint equal to the factory % so it’s basically invisible but it does cut down radiant heat. Two things— I paid $200-250 for this windshield tint. It’s great. Problem is when the inevitable cracked windshield has to be replaced you start over. Also my Thinkware dash cam mounting bracket was placed directly on the tint.(no other place to put it)— which means it’s there for the life of the car/tint. So a cracked windshield creates a lot more problems with the tint and dash cam Mount. Otherwise, I love it.

Dang I never thought about the possibility of having to replace a windshield…

guess that’s a risk you take with most things though
