Is this "thrumming" normal?
My truck is a '22 Lariat, 18k miles, 2.7 Ecoboost engine. I love everything about it...except one thing!
Most noticeable in 7th - 9th gear, and while slightly accelerating, I get a slight thrumming from the drivetrain. I can feel it through my foot, and a little bit in the cabin and steering wheel. It feels like I'm on rough asphalt, or have bad tires, but I know it's neither because it disappears when I let off the gas.
Does anybody else feel this, or am I making much ado about nothing?
I'm also planning on lodging this condition with a dealership, as the truck is still under warranty.
But, that will most likely be a challenging process, to say the least!

Seems like mine does something similar. Not sure but thought it was engine shake, mine stops if I feed it a little fuel and feels like it shifts down and smooths out. May be the same thing. Has done it since new. I don't think the ecoboost like to be lugged??
The thrumming does not occur while lugging, but rather while maintaining a speed or slightly accelerating.
Also, I feel it through all gears, but most noticeably in the higher range.
Hearing no other 2.7 owners with similar symptoms means one of two things;
1) I am ****, and overly concerned about a normal situation.
2) This truck has a drive train problem that needs to be diagnosed and corrected.
I'll report back after bringing this issue up with my local dealership...

In my 3.5 eco it does this as well, I am pretty sure it is just the transmission not shifting down with the slight acceleration as it clears up when you are able to get it to shift.
It happened in my '17 as well.

There is a thread ongoing on this forum for the exact issue you are describing. My 2021 2.7 does the same thing. It bothers me and can’t be good for the engine or drivetrain.
happy reading!

Happy reading indeed, as that is a very long thread...62 pages!
Thanks for sending it along, it supports the notion that this is a frequent and ongoing issue.
The discussion even includes a TSB, #22-2224, describing the shudder and possible fix.
I've scheduled a diagnostic appointment with my local dealer, to initiate the complaint, so we'll see what transpires.
