Is there any way the tailgate lock
can be disabled from the screen?
It could be something simple hopefully and I hoping to avoid the hassle of the dealer

Disable the lock? You're going to need to be far more descriptive of what you're talking about. I want my tailgate to lock so people can't just open it when I'm not there.

My 2021 XLT 302a's tailgate locks when the truck is locked. I did find out that if I go to the truck and push the little button to open the tailgate to get something(think suitcase while traveling), and close the tailgate and walk away, the tailgate is now not locked. Truck has to be relocked!!!!
do not know if you have keyless entry like I do, however the only way to test this is to leave the fob away from the truck and try to open the tailgate when the truck is locked.
In my IPC, I have the option to lock/unlock the tailgate with my door locks. I keep it set to lock/unlock with the doors. When I unlock my truck, I have it set to unlock all doors and the tailgate unlocks as well. Check your instrument panel control options using the steering wheel controls.

Do you have keyless entry? Is there a key slot in the tailgate handle? I do not know much about XL trim levels. I explained how my 2021 XLT 302a works. Is this the tailgate you have?

I do have keyless entry
and have (2) 21’ xl trucks and
the tailgates lock and unlock fine
not sure what is going on with
the 23’
