Default Tailgate support cables

Anyone know the load capacity of the tailgate? I need to transport my golf cart - electric 1000 lbs - and the rear wheels end up on center of tailgate.

On my last truck I had DG EX bars that supplemented the cables temporarily and were supposed to increase capacity.

I think you will be more than fine, I've pivoted a LOT of weight on the tailgate

Also the rear axle won't carry the entire weight of the cart.

Next: Consider if you have you and 2 friends sitting on the gate -has a gate ever failed from 3 people sitting on it. How does the rear axle weight of the cart compare to 3 humans.

I'm guessing the weight of the cart on the rear wheels is approximately 500 lbs. So not much different than three dudes sitting on tailgate.

How far you driving and what kind of roads? Smooth roads or bumpy roads with ruts and higher speeds? If the latter, it could be a bit of a kicker factor with the payload and tailgate bouncing up and down.... otherwise, I’d do it without a worry.

One hour drive to lake house. Normal city streets and mostly highway.

But during loading as the front wheels get on tailgate and rear wheels are on ramps, all weight will be on tailgate.

Traveling through South Carolina on I-26 many times, you see a parade of pickups with golf carts in the beds heading to the coast.
Is it good for the tailgates? Probably not. If it were me, I'd use a utility trailer to transport one. Just easier and safer to load and unload.

It is pretty scary driving up the ramps.
