Default Sync 4 an MyQ?

So I was sitting here reading about the fact that the XLT's don't come with the integrated garage door opener (how much would that cost to add as a standard option?) and remembered that I have the Chamberlain MyQ wifi set up on all three of my garage doors and can access them via my phone and open them from anywhere in the world (as long as I have cell service).

Does anyone here know if by chance that the MyQ app would work with Sync 4 and allow me to access from my truck? I would try it, but I don't have the truck yet.

I also have the MyQ system and a 2021 F150 Lariat.

I had never thought of having it talk yo MyQ but I'm intrigued.

I'm going to follow this post

There's no AppLink integration with MyQ. All you can do is tie your MyQ to a home assistant like Google Home, Alexa, or Siri through Homekit, and then use your voice control to tell it to open or close the garage.

I thought I saw somewhere that Alexa was integrated in Sync 4. I just got my truck this week and I haven't seen it yet.

It is not. I think that is supposed to be one of the OTA updates at some point, but for now your only way to do that is to have the Alexa Mobile app on your phone, and that works through AppLink.

Here is info on the eventual Alexa integration:

Here is info on using Alexa right now with AppLink:

I use the MyQ... I have to use the actual app on my iPhone in-order to open my garage doors.

Alexa works with Sync 3 but it’s limited to certain countries. Americans have it on old models, Canadians don’t have it at all.

Alexa compatibility is an option within Sync 4 which is currently disabled by default. It requires an APIM setting to be changed with ForScan and likely a Sync 4 software update too.

Whereas it’s blocked in Canada in Ford vehicles with Sync 3, I don’t have the means to test it. Besides that setback, Ford’s Sync AppLink is 100% garbage anyway, so I don’t think anyone is missing much.

Your best bet for smart home integration is to use Siri Shortcuts or the Android equivalent and stick to using CarPlay or Android Auto.

I have a bias though, I admittedly hate Sync 4 and wish Ford will give up sooner than later designing these half baked outsourced infotainment platforms, but that’s a rant for another thread.

You have options, just don’t count on Ford’s platform customer service team for any support ever.
