Default Step stool for tailgate access - which one will work?

I have a 2024 F150 Lariat with the Pro Access Tailgate - which I love.

Am going to buy a small, foldable step stool as a temporary solution to gain easier foot access into my truck bed until the center mounted retractable bumper step becomes available (either as the OEM part on backorder or a 3rd party solution).

Was looking at the sturdy looking Harbor freight step stool...which is 13" height, or the one pictured on Amazon that is adjustable up to 8.8" height.

I am out of town now with a rental, so am not sure what height would be good for use if the 'full' tailgate is all the way down....I'd like to step on the stool and then easily step onto the tailgate, if such a scenario is possible.

Not interested in a tailgate mounted side ladder....

Would either of these items pictured work?

Stepping up is one thing, stepping down is another.

Those type of things do tip if you aren’t on them right or if they are not on a perfectly level surface and then you fall down go boom.

I got the tailgate step option. My personal preference over the magic tailgate.

Had the pull out step on my 2018....loved it! Made the sacrifice to get the Pro Access for my bavk's sake.....loading heavy stuff like multiple 5 gal gas cans is now much easier on my back. Thanks!

The 13” height stool from Harbor Freight sounds like a solid option. I used something similar when I was waiting for my ladder to come in, and it worked well. I’d suggest checking how the stool height lines up with your truck; it’s all about finding that sweet spot so you can step up comfortably onto the tailgate. The adjustable stool could be nice too, as you can tweak it based on how high or low you need it. Speaking of it, I grabbed one ladder from Astro Lift for some other projects around the house, and it’s been super handy for both the truck bed and other tasks.

How about a small step ladder like this? I bought one years ago for my wife to use in the house, and then last year bought one for me to keep in my garage. Very light weight and rigid, and probably easier to step down onto. And after you get the bumper step it still can be useful to reach the top of the cab or even the center of the windshield (unless you are 6-8).

Only if Ford would listen.

Ford also went from a 265-60 18 in 2016-2020 to a 275-65r18 tire for the 14 Gen it all adds up folks.
