Default Speed sign recognition…

So, I enabled the speed sign recognition feature, but the truck often picks up the speed limit signs on the neighboring frontage road. So I’ll be cruising along at 75, then the truck suddenly tries to decelerate to 45 if it picks up one of these signs. And the opposite… if I am on the frontage road, it will sometimes pick up the highway speed sign if the frontage road is close to the highway. Watch out!

Agreed, intelligent cruise is not ready for primetime. I do like the display of current speed limit though!

Just touch the brake and then resume..... Not a big deal. Until the it switches to a GPS system that doesn't rely on cameras it'll happen. Until then, it's either deal with it or don't use it.

That's interesting. There is a feedback option in Sync 4, I would submit stuff like that. For whatever reason I don't really run into anything like that and I have been over all kinds of roads across a few states. Every couple weeks or so, it misdetects a school zone speed limit as being the active speed limit and tries to slow down, but I can give it a break on that kind of thing. Maybe they improved things a bit in one of the PowerUps, I now have 1.4 and 1.6 and I know they mention miscellaneous improvements aside from the known new features. Hate to hear it's trouble for some though because it is one of my favorite surprise new features.

I must not have that enabled. Mine doesn't do that. To be fair I turned off a lot of those features 😂

I am impressed with the recognition though. It even picks up the 10 mph signs in the parking lot of my work. That are just bolted to an old rim and tire. Was told that it doesn't actually read the signs, they're just logged into the nav, by a nay sayer. Proved it to them when it read the janky signs in my work parking lot 😂

But it resumes to the new, erroneous speed limit. You have to physically accelerate and re-set your cruise speed to the correct value. Only happens once in a while, but if there are cars behind you can be an issue. I still like it enough to use it. An idea for Ford would be to give the driver maybe three customizable dash buttons for quick access to the menus. I would like to have a enable/quick disable button for something like this.

Owner’s manual says it reads signs. BC is also is supposed to use Nav info, but I suppose sign-reading may trump the Nav maps.

I know. I was just stating that a friend didn't believe me, and that he thought it was the nav

Mine doesn't do that but it does pick up the truck with trailer speed limit signs so I was cruising at 70mph on the freeway and it slammed on the brakes to bring me down to 55mph. When I set the tolerance to 15mph over to avoid that issue it will automatically increase my speed 15mph over the speed limit every time it sees a speed limit sign. I turned that feature off it was too much of a hassle to deal with so it just displays the speed limit and that's it.
