After a drive this evening, I think i was wrong about one thing. i think terrestrial radio is functioning correctly (sub there or not...not sure, but the volume i think is on par with what it had been). Satellite is now as soft as blutooth/usb used to be. possibly the three of those are now even softer than usb/blutooth used to be.
i'd be interested to know if everything in the radio is processed digitally and sent therough the same amp.... or are different parts processed and amped differently.

@rugedraw I hate to bother you again but I'm hoping you can help. After a couple visits to the dealership and an APIM swap, I'm on SYNC version 4.0.21233 and the "About SYNC" screen reports 22087_PRODUCT, revision 415. That's all the way back from January 2022. I reported this to the service person and asked why they didn't update me to the current version like they said they would and she replied "There are no OTA updates thru your vin right now & the last update was the one we did. the sync system is fully updated to the newest software."
This doesn't sound right but I don't know how to respond to her. Can you help? What do I say to her and where can I point her to illustrate that there is a newer version that I should have? Or is there?
VIN: 1FTFW1E82MFA62371
Many many thanks!

I had this process when I decided to do my own updates a while back. It took me 6-8 hours to traverse through all of the modules until I finally got to the "current" version for my truck's build. I am at 23159, which as I understand it is current. Per Rugerew, I do now have 2 more modules (audio and HVAC) showing in FRDS to be updated, but they have not been pushed to my truck in an OTA, and I am not planning to buy the 2 day FRDS license to do them as they don't seem critical.
Not sure if this helps or not. Good Luck!!

I sure ain't Rugedraw, but have learned a lot from him. What you are seeing is the fact that Ford does not use any type of "consolidated" update process where a package is created to bring everything up to date in a single step. It is similar to what you see on a Windows OS update; how many times have you applied an update, only to get another notification that there are more updates available... Ford seems to be the same, in that if you get into FRDS and apply updates, it is ohly showing you those updates to bring each module up to the next threshold, and does not reflect ALL updates that may still be outstanding. When one package installs, it will trigger others that require that package you just updated to be installed first. So it can be a long process where you update some number of modules, then minutes to hours later, more modules show up in FRDS that are now available for your build. If the Service Advisor looks at FRDS, they will see what is available at that time.

I encountered the same issue during that time frame and didn't realize it could be caused by an update until I came across this post. Ford support guided me through the reset process, but unfortunately, my rear camera button remains disabled. I hope someone can assist and check my VIN: 1FTEW1CP9MFA25842 to see if an update did not go through correctly.

Super helpful, thanks! I asked her to check FDRS to see if there are more updates available. I don't know how she can make the claim that a 2-year old build is the current one but sending her links to https://tonesto7.github.io/ford-pwr-up-info/ and https://ford.fandom.com/wiki/Ford_Po...ersion_history hasn't gotten me anywhere.
It may be the service advisor is only looking at the APPIM since that is all they worked on. I think most people on here will tell you the Ford dealers do not get paid for module updates UNLESS there is a problem with that module. Ford seems to define not receiving OTAs as an issue that is not really a failure, so any time the dealership would incur to update modules without a "failure" is not able to be charged back to warranty service that they can get Ford to pay them for. And remember, in my case, there were 6-8 hours of time needed to complete the updates. That is the conundrum we are all facing (us and the dealership) in this crappy process.
I will bow out now as this is about all I can add to this topic. I am already WAY out over my skis... Rugedraw will correct all of the things I have fouled up, but I think it is generally accurate. Again, good luck!!
