Default shock bolts

For all you replacing your shocks, did you reuse the old bolts and nuts, or get new ones. Ford says to replace them, wondering why, replaced shocks on my old 2005 f150 prob about 5 times, reused old bolts and nuts, no problems. Having trouble sourcing new hardware that don't cost 9 bucks a bolt, if your replacing, what source are you using? Thanks

I’ve replaced rear shocks on a few trucks and cars over my years…..I’ve never used new bolts and never had an issue. I do live in Alabama so rust isn’t an issue. My guess is rust is in their lawyers mind when the instructions were written.

The answer may not be as shocking as you'd expect.

never have replaced them but if you feel the need go to the hardware and get grade 5 bolts for way less. Take one with to be sure on size thread and length.

Reused the hardware back in 2018 when I installed my Billy 5100s. No issues since.

Ok thanks everybody, didn't think there would be an issue with using the original hardware.

I put shocks on about a year and a half ago. Reused old bolts no problems.
