Default Is it safe to always different drive modes?

Hey, Gents.

Every time I start my truck, I select yes I want to stay in Sport mode. Is that safe? Is it okay to always use Sport mode? Will it harm anything?

Yeah, nothing wrong with leaving it in sport mode. It's definitely on the more aggressive side in terms of throttle response and shift scheduling and your fuel economy will suffer more noticeably. Obviously pay attention to any drive modes that engage 4x4 if you don't have an auto transfer case (Lariat and above, I believe), but that'll be the snow/slippery, off road, etc. Honestly, I use Eco or Tow Haul like 99% of the time so I don't even remember what the other off road modes are off the top of my head.

I have been using sport mode and loving it. So much fun to drive.

I hate having to rotate the **** every time I get in it though. Is there a way it stays in sport mode and also in 2wd?

Everytime I start my truck, it asks me if i want to return to whatever mode I was in last time. Does yours not do that? There can be another message or two that can popup as well for other warnings, like if you have a door open, or you're simultaneously releasing the parking brake, things like that. The drive mode message may timeout in the background without you seeing it.

I use sport all the time except in wet weather/winter. Have since 2017. My particular F150 does get better mileage in sport vs normal, so that statement does not apply to all. KM

Doesn't the truck go back to normal driving mode every time it's started up?

if you end a drive in any mode other than Normal, it will display a message, upon start up, asking if you want to retain the last drive setting.

I will have to check next time I drive it. It was shut down in sport mode so I will look for the message.
