Default Running Board Mode Setting

Has anyone experienced the following?
  1. Running board mode is set to OUT.
  2. Periodically, when I shut the engine off and exit, the boards retract and mode is back to AUTO.
How do I keep this from reoccurring?

Thanks.

If I am not mistaken, when you reach a certain speed (10mph perhaps) it reverts back to auto. It will not let drive with them out.

Correct, the boards retract when you reach a certain speed, but I thought that was independent of selecting Auto mode? I'd like them to remain in the chosen mode and not revert to Auto mode every time. Perhaps it can be managed in Forscan.

The running board settings have the following modes:

Off
The power running boards remain stowed, regardless of door position.

Out
The power running boards remain deployed, regardless of door position.

Auto
The power running boards deploy when you approach your vehicle with a remote control, unlock the door or open the door.

Yep, mine reverts to Auto mode every time, as well. I don't understand Ford's logic with this feature. Why offer three modes if the modes switch to Auto ever time?

I could be wrong / may not work, but FDRS has an option to set what speed they retract back at. So in theory, you could set it at a speed you deem sensible and they will in effect do what you are trying?

Or could you set them to OUT and then disconnect them under the truck, no power and they cannot do anything, not sure if it would set a fault or not!

Default Running boards modes not working

Any luck with this? Our 2024 Platinum is doing the same exact thing. It's really annoying...I want it set to "out" always until the truck reaches 3mph at which point they auto retract.

This won't help the OP but it gives me a chance to vent. When I ordered my 23 F-150, Auto running boards were the only option on the Platinum. I had them on my 2015 and I wasn't thrilled with them. In northern Ohio maintenance can be a problem for them. I ended up moving down to a Lariat to get the running boards I wanted. I'm happy with my decision but it should have been an option on the Platinum.
Thanks

Why was maintenance a problem in Ohio? Asking cause, I live in southern Ohio and have them on my Lariat.
