I had battery charging issues on my 2013 but the fix was easy by unplugging the ground side induction ring. I'm guessing the gen 14 would have a spaz attack if we attempted to bypass the bms?

The cause should be looked for before blaming the Battery that had to supply the Drain.
In all truth, the Battery that was good before this happened could be recovered with proper charging equipment and procedure because that discharge does not just ruin an otherwise good Battery. The stores love to sell Batteries on that basis.
<Snip>.
Or a shorted out cell/plate.

I’ve had batteries that start up fine one minute then die the next.

It’s one of the most annoying breakdowns to have. Because it’s preventable.

perhaps I should pack my jump pack before I go camping this weekend.

Can’t believe my truck is almost four years old.

Many eons ago, I worked at a plumbing supply company, we sold water heaters, including big names like Rheem, etc. Rheem sold the exact same water heater with different warranties, ranging from 3 yrs to 6 yrs to 10 yrs, etc. The ONLY difference was the price. As @David Hineline notes, they charged more to cover more claims on the longer warrantied products. It was more efficient (AKA cheaper) to simply make the same product and charge accordingly for the warranty. I'm going to guess this makes sense for a variety of manufactured products.

I obviously can't speak for every industry, and I'm sure there are cases where diff warranties are based on diff products, but as I said above, this is probably more common than we think. After all, a warranty is simply a risk/reward actuarial calculation. Easy to do these days.

Original on mine, late 2021 2.7. No problems so far.

Where did you come up with 720 for factory battery? I bought an H7 for mine from dealer for less than your Autozone battery.

When the dealer says the battery wont last more then 2 years because they have seen that many fail, it's out in my book. Having that happen when I am on the road would cost me much more then a new battery. And I think the OEM is too low. The Ford battery in my 67 Mustang has more CCA - and it has no electronics.

It is listed right on the top. I could have gotten one for a little less from NAPA but it had a 3 year vs 5 year warranty. Went with the longer warranty.

The top caps under the label were popped up. Pretty sure shorted out battery.

.
If the cell seals are raised, it means the Battery was being charged at too high a voltage and for too long a time.
The Cells overheated, pressure rose too far and forced the Vents to open to relieve the pressures.
I would be checking the charging system for some possible fault because this is a serious abnormal sign to put the new Battery to if there is a Charging fault.
Max charge voltage for AGM is 14.8 v.
Max Cell Temp is 148*.
Good luck.
