Just looking for feedback on the timeframe it has been taking lately from the time a special order is placed to the time the truck is recieved.

It seems to vary widely. I ordered a 501A Lariat towards late January and it's scheduled to be delivered 4/29. I also ordered an XLT 302A at the same time and it's scheduled to be delivered towards the end of May.

You likely have a better chance of winning the lottery, than predicting when you will receive your truck. The build date could be pushed months, and it could sit months waiting for chips after being built. At this point 3-6 months is likely as good of a guess as any.

This. Global chip shortage means that lead times are much greater than normal. And I would take any estimate with a huge grain of salt for now.

Here's some feedback.

Order as soon as you can if you want a special order. I wish I hadn't of waited until early March to order mine. If I had ordered mine in January when I knew what I wanted, I might have it right now.

Order now and be careful what options you choose. I ordered a 502a in mid Feb. Got a build date one Month later for today, April 22. In mid-April my build date got bumped from April 22 to May 7 due to Kansas shutdowns. Now, as of yesterday it looks like Kansas will be shut down until mid May which means I’m now looking at a late May build if I’m lucky. Pretty disappointed by the whole thing. I haven’t purchased a new vehicle in 8 years. When I ordered in Feb I was expecting an early May delivery but now I might be lucky to even get it in June.

Thanks for the replies and confirming my observations. I haven't ordered my truck yet and may just wait a while based on the experiences people are having. I am not to excited about having a built truck sitting over a month on a lot and then having a non-Ford subcontractor installing my computer on a vehicle I just paid over $50K for.

I think it really depends on what model and options you are looking at ordering and your dealer allocation availability and priority codes. Maybe even some luck is involved as well. I ordered a loaded platinum powerboost on March 15 and received the vin a week later with a build date of April 27. It had a priority code of 10 and received the window sticker this week and seems to be set to be produced next week at the Dearborn plant, which is one of the few plants still operating right now. That is my experience so far and most likely it will end up in a field for 6 months waiting on chips, but my point is if are wanting a model that is only produced in a plant that is shut down then obviously those orders are being backed up even further which would make yours even further out. Same thing with certain options, which seem to change each week. Personally if I was you I would order one and get your place in line, if something comes up like you find one on a lot, you can always cancel the order. (confirm with your dealer, or find another dealer that will allow you to cancel).

Finally built! Production started May 4. Build is a 502A. Now hopefully shipping isn't too big of an issue....
