Default Rear AC…so weak??

Why is the rear AC vents so weak? And when you redirect rear air vents to the outboard seats, even less air comes out!

We don’t have 3 zone AC, right?

Is there AC mode that I am missing??

Good morning. Check to make sure the air is not directed to the floor or windshield as well. When this happens, rear vent flow is cut by 75% at least. It was this way in my '15 and also my' 21. Just a thought.

AC blows plenty of cold air. Just weak in the rear vents unless I use MAX AIR.

On a side note, the 14th gens AC front side vents put out a lot less air than the 13th gens. The 13th gens had those nice big taller vents.

I still can't believe how weak the airflow is from the outer front vents. Anyone have a photo of the duct work?

Yeah. The middle front ones are OK, but the side front ones? Noticeably less air than the last generation.

If anything, you would think a truck of all things would have huge, generous, freezing cold air with the horsepower we have. It should be much more robust than a sedan.

It's not an engine horsepower thing.

What setting are you using?

I live in Georgia and I've never had any problem getting my trucks colder than is comfortable. I have used max A/C for like 10 minutes ever because it's too cold.

If people in the second row are hot, I just make sure to point the powerful front middle A/C vents into the air and not directly at me sometimes the driver thinks it's cold because they point the vents right at them instead of pointing the vents, say, slightly up and back, to where the entire cab's air gets cold.

If you live in Death Valley or something, consider quality window tint and a sunshade for the windshield when parked

Make sure you have the overall fan speed up high enough, and that if you have a model with the auto climate, you have all three of the lights illuminated so that it can use max fan speed if it wants, and if you want it colder...turn it down to Lo. It'll crank it out

I have an in-expensive Pyle PMA CFM/CMM Thermo Antemeter. I measured the dash center vents and compared it to the rear passenger area vents and they are very, very close to being the same discharge of CFM. The system was set on "Auto" and at 70 degrees. If I were to guess, I would say that is the equivalent of blower speed 4, if in manual mode. The drivers side window vent, measured the least of the 3.

I suspect the rear vent issues are more around the distance from the user compared to the front. That said it seems to do just fine keeping ours cool front and rear. Have taken plenty of long drives in 90 degree temps and everyone is comfortable. I even got the chance to ride in the back after we went out for dinner one day a couple months ago and was plenty comfortable.

I imagine the distance as noted and that there are only two gives it less feeling of power, but if the front vents are open and adjusted properly they should have handling about 80% of the interior cooling anyway, the rear vents are just to give a little extra. They are nice to have, but for the most part your entire cab should be comfortable in most situations even if they weren't there, at least after five minutes or so of driving.
