I recently bought a new to me f150. I bought a 2024 f150 501a lariat with 40,000km. As soon as I got the truck I had airbags installed for when I tow. I drive the truck for a few weeks and had an airbag leak. I fixed the leak and inflated the airbags to 50psi and left my shop to see if I fixed the leak and lost any air. When I started the truck I got a drive control fault:
I figured this was do do with the load sensors on the truck for the head lights but I hope that every time I put a load on I’m not going to have to goto the dealer to clear it. Anyways, we just traveled back to our home town which is about 900km drive and when we arrived I had 2 fault going on and off randomly. One is blind spot monitoring fault and the other is cross traffic alert fault. They say fault then go off then back on then back off. When I was in the driver assistance menu to turn those off so I didn’t have to listen to the dinging, I noticed the exit alarm switch going on and off all on its owed. See videos for what I’m talking about. Anyone see this before? If the truck a dud?(I hove the video attach)
It says the videos are to large but the exit selection goes on and off on its own and the blind spot monitoring fault and cross traffic alert fault keep popping up the fault the going off and then popping up and going off over and over again
It would really help if you were able to pull any stored codes. Most auto parts stores can do this for you if you don't have an appropriate ODB reader.
I’m on holidays in a small town right now. No luck of that. But it’s booked in at a dealer on the 5th. Every time I start the truck it says drive control fault, blind spot monitoring fault, cross traffic alert fault and when in reverse the drivers side rear sensor beeps until it says rear backup alert and breaking not available. Thank you ford for charging so much money for piles of junk.
1: upload videos to YouTube, and post a link to them.
2: Most auto stores can only read standard OBD2 codes, not manufacturer specific codes. So you might come home none the wiser.
3: I swear that newly purchased used trucks show up here almost instantly due to the prior owner dumping them because of the problems you have now inherited.
4: take it to dealer...on the 5th and please report back. Specifically ask for the codes, both active and historic.
I’ve been on these forums consistently for about 1.5 yrs, and haven’t seen any widespread discussions with the systems you are having issues with.
My guess for you is it is something to do with the airbag suspension that was installed, unfortunately. The dealer on the 5th you are taking it to will most certainly try to blame the install of the airbags on your issues and deny any warranty claim. Do you have an onboard compressor? If so, how was it wired? When running it could cause dips in voltage and affect modules that then throw these codes. Also changes in ride height specifically affect the exact sensors you are having issues with, as the are calibrated for a certain ride height. When the one bag leaked and deflated it could have caused binding in the driveline that caused damage. I truly hope I’m wrong. I’m hoping the best for you.
the dealer near where I am had a look at the truck on the 31st. The drive control fault was a broken load sensor wire that they replaced. They also said the blind spot fault and cross traffic alert fault was because of a corroded trailer plug wiring. They replaced and cleared faults. Driving today, blind spot monitoring fault and cross traffic alert came back on. So I guess I need to re-book it in again
