Default Quick Question RE: 5100 Install

How much time should a shop take to install a pair of 5100 rear shocks on a 22? Thanks!

On a lift, probably takes longer to set up the truck than swap them.

Including removing and reinstalling my Husky wheel well liners, it took me approx 45min to do my rear shocks. If you have basic hand tools, you can do it yourself. Hardest part is "catching" the shock eyelet as the shock is expanding after snipping the plastic band. Bolt it loosely into the upper shock mount first and arm yourself with the snips and the lower bolt. Snip the band and quickly point the shock at the lower shock mount. As it expands, line the bolt hole up to the shock sleeve and slide the bolt in. Tighten bolts to spec and youre good to go.

You dont catch anything... you install the top bolt of the shock then you can position the axle bracket to align with the shock bottom.
Install the nut and then cycle the shock with a floor jack.

The amount of time it takes a shop to complete the job is not the same as the amount of time they would bill to complete the job.

Im not sure if that is why you ask the question.

I would expect it to be called 2 maybe 3 hours of labor. Even though its a 45 minute job.
