Default Question - Whistle Noise

Hello!

Just bought a used 2023 F150 XLT. The truck is 4x4, has a 5.0, short-bed, less than 25k miles and does not have the max tow package.

Durinf acceleration with the windows closed, I hear a loud whistling noise. It only happens when the gas pedal is pushed in (not during coasting). Any idea what that could be? Will be scheduling an appointment with Ford Service as well.

Turbo whine.

Just kidding.

Has an aftermarket cold-air intake been fitted on your 5.0?

I've heard this too- but with the windows down. Windows up, my cabin is damn near silent. Almost sounds like a very small turbo. Everything stock. 2024 5.0 with 23k miles.

Cold starts it almost sounds like the truck has headers.... first service at the dealer I'm going to have them check everything.

Ford Dealership confirmed it was a differential pin that was too tight.

Bringing it back in 2-weeks as they are backed-up currently. Then I will getting a loaner after that.. seems like they will be taking the differential apart.

When you state differential pin are you referring the pinion gear nut was loaded to tight?
