Default Question: Tailgate LED Strip

Has anyone added one of these tailgate "light bars"?
I'm wondering, if I use the 4 wire trailer plug (like most of the installations suggest)...does the truck think a trailer is connected all the time?

I'm trying to AVOID being annoyed by some warning that tells me a trailer is connected!

I see that RECON makes some Tailgate Light Bar Plug-in De-Coder but theres no description of what function it provides or what problem it may solve.

I think most people are tapping directly into the tail light wiring to avoid the trailer connected issue when they do the rear light bars. I want to say someone has posted the tail light wiring schematic on one of the other rear light bar threads.

Putco is literally plug and play, no tapping involved.

is that what YOU installed? was the harness included or was that a separate purchase? How much did you pay?

I wired mine into the trailer light connector and don't have an issue with it thinking a trailer is connected when it isn't.
