Question about towing
I may be buying a 1982 f250. It has the 351 engine and I looked up weight and it looks like it weighs about 4,000 lbs. It’s a couple hrs or so away. I have an 2021 supercab 4x4 with the 2.7 and 3.55 rear. I’d like to tow it home but am concerned about weight. I can rent a 20 ft car hauler locally but it weighs about 2500lbs. Does anyone know how That may work with my truck and the 1982?
You can check the max towing capacity of your truck here with your vin:

4000 for an 82 f250 seems like the lightest it could possibly be, if it's a standard cab and smallest engine/trans that was offered at the time.

If you Google 2021 f150 towing chart, you can also see your towing capacity. Looks like those weights, if the f250 is that light, will be under the capacity of your truck. But I would also want a trailer brake controller if I were you (if you don't have one).
In post 4 it says 7600 but that ford site says 6000. Wonder why it’s different.
Btw… I did also wondered why weight on the f250 was that light. I looked it up in a couple places and I found between 3700-4000lbs for the 1982. Maybe it’s bc it is a gas engine. Idk.

Double check your numbers, from what's been said above I think you're good. I routinely tow 5900 gross with mine. It handles it with no drama, I agree with the comment on brakes, would be an absolute for me. One other thought if you rent a trailer and don't have your own tie down equipment be sure to inspect the rental gear before you leave, I've seen supplied tie downs in shambles in the past.
