Quick Update.

I took it in and my service advisor and the salesman both looked at the tailgate. They both agreed there’s allot of movement in the tailgate.

Just closing the tailgate door shows the huge movement and noise/ vibration inherent in this newly designed tailgate

The consensus was that there is nothing structurally wrong with the tailgate itself. I will provide the videos to my service advisor as requested and to Ford Customer care

I highly recommend those who have this tailgate to test it off road. The vibration/ shaking and noise is unbearable

Owing to my age and arthritis, I have to use the pole and step. It's a helpful innovation, not a gimmick.

I made a return trip up to the lake to get some video of the tailgate in action. With my luck the grader ran the road and smoothed it out. Last week in this particular section Anything faster that 15 mph and the tailgate shook violently. Saturday I could drive almost 30 mph with only low to moderate shaking of the tailgate

Now I need to wait until November for the road to get bad again

I can’t believe my luck sometimes. Oh well it was a nice drive

You don’t need to take it off road to realize something isn’t right! Just open and close the swing away door in your driveway and the lightweight door shakes, rattles and rolls when it closes! I have to hold on to it as it swings shut to minimize the impact and the tinny rattling effect as it meets the rest of the tailgate. It’s a great idea but a poor design and I hope Ford will have a fix for this as it was a nearly $1;500 option. I expect it to perform like a normal tailgate or to open and close solidly like the side doors do. Hondas Ridgeline does and it’s a one piece, heavy swing away door. Please respond to this issue Ford.

When I first got one, the Pro access tailgate concerned me. Figured washboard in particular would shake it apart. It hasn’t been a problem with a Diamond Back HD Tonneau on top holding it down. Without the tonneau I am sure my would have broke by now.
