Default Pro access Tailgate issues

I have a 2024 F150 with the new Pro Access Tailgate. I took the truck for its first real off road test on an easy dirt trail with some washboard sections.

the tailgate performed poorly as it bounced and shook so bad I thought it was going to launch itself off the truck. The noise it was making was so loud I thought for sure something was broken

i I pulled over and opened the tailgate and made sure it was ok

We turned around and it did the same thing on the way out. We only made it in aboutv2 miles and we had 50 more miles to go.

I sure hope something is broken with this tailgate and can be fixed. This is not acceptable as my 2023 F150 with the standard tailgate had no issues on this road

Did Ford even drive this truck with this tailgate off-road? I知 thinking not. It痴 going to the dealer asap.

has anyone else driven the truck with this tailgate off-road? If not you better check it out

Taking a one piece tailgate and making three pieces is inevitably going to create the opportunity for movement in those pieces and noise. This video confirms that. Go to 4 minutes and you can hear the rattles as he closes it.

That noise or rattle you hear is nothing compared to the shaking and vibration along the with noise you experience when driving over washboard sections of road. I値l have to take it for another ride this weekend but I値l be sure to shoot a video this time

50 miles on gravel roads sounds like hell, regardless.

Sounds like a city truck option.

One thing I don't understand is all these gimmick tail gates. I had the stripper pole and step on my 2015 and I made sure to find a truck with a normal plain tail gate this time. The pro gate I would never get.

Hope you get the issues figured out.

Washboard is brutal on every component and occupant. I drive off road on far more severe scenarios but not in my F150. I can't imaging how bad these multi piece tailgates will be (regardless of brand) when these trucks have covered 100 plus K miles. Just trying to get one aligned correctly and 100% functional, after an accident is going to test a body shop's patience to the limit.

If you have to have a crazy tailgate the simplicity of the Ram two piece is better. Ridgeline one piece dual opening style very attractive. Can you imagine anyone trying to recreate the tailgate in the video today. Probably take half a dozen electronic boxes to do.

I知 waiting for my service advisor to call me back so I can make an appt to drop it off. I was told they do no panel alignments so it will have to be sent to a body shop

I saw another PAT tailgate like mine and it had less movement but still too much for my liking
theres no doubt it would do the same thing I知 experiencing The regular tailgates are just fine with very little movement as I checked several of those.

We値l see what the body shop says but I have a feeling this is going to be a huge issue. All I can say to you guys thinking about this tailgate is to pass unless your only a city driver
