Hey all! Hope your day is a good one! I picked up my 2024 F150 Platinum Plus (hybrid). Ordered this truck in Dec 2023 and requested the Pro-Access tailgate. The email updates I received from Ford during production seemed to indicate the Pro-Access tailgate was included on the truck. Found out when I picked it up at dealer that it doesn't have this item. Dealer had no info from Ford on this being available or not. What bothers me constantly is the video image of the truck on the instrument panel clearly shows a Pro-Access tailgate. I have to see this every time I'm in my new truck. It's like Ford is rubbing salt in the wound constantly. This is my 5th F150 since 1997. Not a very nice way to treat a loyal customer. I have called Ford to ask them to either put the new tailgate on my truck when available, or send an update to my truck changing the image to one w/o that tailgate. No one at Ford seems to be able to help. They just say call the dealer, who can't do either of these things for me. If Ford is listening, please do something!

 

What is a pro-access tailgate? you mean the steps?

 

Thought it was pretty well documented that Job 1 trucks would not be getting the new tailgate. All literature I have ever seen has specifically "late availability" for the pro access tailgate. If your dealer doesnt know that, they are either completely inept or lying to make sure you keep the truck.

 

The new one which has a section that swings out like a regular door.

 

I just had a 2024 XLT as a rental and even it showed the Pro Access tailgate in the image. Pretty sure it's just a standard image.
When I shutdown my 2023 Platinum PowerBoost, it shows a front view of what looks like a 2024 platinum even though it was built in May 2023.

 

 

Did they end up limiting the Pro Access tailgate to certain trims and up or can I get it on an XL STX?

 

From what I have read Ford announced that they would not be producing the Pro Access tailgate until Job 2 builds for 2024, which were scheduled to be started on April 1, however some other stuff I have read says they were not able to start adding the PAT right away on the Job 2 builds as planned. If your truck was built in Job 1 or early Job 2 then no Pro Access tailgate. Mine was built 4/2024, so technically Job 2, and does not have it. My window sticker says "Pro Access Tailgate Delete", which is not actually an option so Ford just printed that on there because they could not install it.

Personally I am not concerned b/c I was not that interested in it. But I can understand how some people who wanted it would be upset.
