Default PowerBoost Juice

Anyone else try using a miter saw with their 7.2KW setup? I have...and..well.... it doesn't work. It doesn't even come close to trying to start it either. One time you'll get a little jump from the saw then the next time it won't even attempt to start it. Each time it makes the amber status light flash inside the bed. The little pop breakers are pushed in like they should. If I try my circular saw it will work just fine so the truck works.. on some stuff.

My 3000W Honda generator will run that miter saw like its plugged into the wall!!

Think Ford will give an OTA update and give me the juice I paid for?

I've had mine test loaded up to about 6500-watts... what type of miter saw is it? Have you plugged in a few other items (with your circular) to see if your power is truncated or if its just *that* miter saw in particular?

I just used my Dewalt 12" mitersaw with my 2.4kw and it worked perfectly.

Maybe you have a misbuild and have a 2.4

Its a Hitachi miter saw. I got it at a Christmas party so don't judge me based off the brand!

I can run anything else I plug into it besides the miter saw. The saw works fine in a normal house outlet and with my Honda generator!

I have my hot tub in the garage until we build our deck maybe I will rig it up to and see if it will run the heater haha

Either the 2.4kw or the 74.kw should handle a miter saw, especially the 7.4, no problem.

Yep, try some higher load stuff... it sounds like it doesn't like the miter saw. As someone stated earlier, my 12-inch Dewalt compound miter works as well.

I remember in a TFL test they ran a 120v welder on it, and it wouldn't run at the highest setting on the welder but would when set slightly lower. Even if the normal wattage requirement for the miter saw is fine, they generally have a "surge" requirement with electric motors, and it could be more than the truck "likes" so it kills power to prevent damage. It may be something they adjust down the line, as the outlets are supposed to be 20 amp, so it should be more capable than a lot of home outlets (which can be 15 or 20 amp). But sometimes it's not a matter of normal power draw, but rate of change in power draw, that can cause issues with generators. That surge power can be rough. Why they usually don't recommend running a full size home AC on a generator, even if the AC running wattage is within spec, the surge draw can be a monster.

Just curious @kwalt21 does the failure occur when the engine is running as well as when the engine is off and just the battery is supplying? Batteries are extremely good (way better than an engine) at supplying transients, but if the battery was low it can certainly brownout/droop before the engine can recharge it.

Also did you try both phaseA and phaseB? I know that phaseA powers all the interior outlets while phaseB is solely available in the bed.

Page 194 in the manual provides the messages that are presented during a fault. OP didn't mention if it displayed anything, may help prevent us from guessing at what happened.
