PowerBoost or EcoBoost?
I am working on a deal right now with my local dealership and I have two options. I can get an EcoBoost XLT 302A package right now or wait 2 weeks and get the PowerBoost in a Lariat package. I am heavily leaning towards the XLT EcoBoost because... 1. I can get it now. 2. I love the color (not available in the PowerBoost) and 3. The SLT is almost 20K less. Is the Hybrid really worth and additional 20K?
Both options are great. I have a Lariat PB 502A, and I absolutely love it. Coming from a 2014 FX2 with a 5.0, I initially wanted another 5.0, but after test driving the 5.0, EB and PB, I just had to have the EB or PB (and only in Smoked Quartz). That said, are the $20K options something you want/can afford/can wait two weeks to have in the Lariat (I'm guessing it's either 501A or 502A), or would you rather go without them in XLT 302A right now? The PB is very nice and powerful, and I thoroughly enjoy driving it, but I would have bought my truck even if it was a EB just for the Lariat and 502A alone (and I would have bought it even in a 501A).
20k difference? Compare the features in both trucks and weigh the pros/cons. If the Lariat is 20k more it’s not just the powerboost engine you are paying for. There are other features in that lariat trim which may or may not be important to you. But if both vehicles are similarly equipped (I.e high package, fx4, moonroof etc) it shouldn’t be a 20k difference unless I’m missing something
The price difference is XLT vs Lariat, it's not 3.5 vs Powerboost. Like, 80%-90% of that difference is in the other stuff.
You're going to have to list a lot more detailed info on how each truck is quipped if you want meaningful feedback

The only real difference in trim is that the Lariat has Leather, the moon roof and nicer wheels. With either trim package, the wheels and tires will be replaced with aftermarket, so really it comes down to the moon roof and leather. I don't mind the cloth and I couldn't care less about the moon roof.

If you honestly think wheels, leather, moonroof, and which engine are the only differences then its clearly not a $20k difference
But there are other differences
Can you post the two window stickers?

I have a PowerBoost Lariat 502a and really like it.

Advantages of the PB, to me:
- More power and torque. It's really pretty fast for a truck
- Better fuel economy around town, though don't expect a full 24/24. I usually get 21-22 average, but I live in a hilly area
- 7.2 kW generator
- Since you get electric AC compressor and accessories with hybrid drivetrain, you can leave the truck "running" if you are waiting for someone, or at a job site, with the HVAC on but with the engine off, except for an occasional charging cycle
- You don't have to deal with clunky auto stop/start at traffic lights. Since it is a hybrid, it shuts off the engine at lights, but moving again is seamless because it uses the motor to start and then engages the engine. For me, saving fuel at frequent traffic light stops but without the disadvantages of auto stop/start lowers the stress of city driving
