Powerboost 12V Battery State of Charge low
#101
I’ve had the sync message going on 2 weeks now. Today I’m getting the red 12V warning message on the dash. 60 mile 2 hour drive doesn’t seem to have done anything.
battery tested fine on quick check today. They wanna do a deep draw test.
we’ll see what happens there.
thanks for the TSB. Any idea if this relates to the “stop safely now” message at all? I’ve had that once.

60 mile run at the charge rate being commanded won't bring the Battery back to where it is suppose to be in that amount of time, distance or Charge Current rate.
There is a rule used for these Batteries called the C rule.
That is one tenth the AMP HOUR rate of an H6 size AGM that is rated 70 Ah new.
One tenth rule makes the charge rate 7 amps.
See why 60 miles is not long enough at that charge level? To boot, the charge level is shared with the rest of the vehicle needs so the Battery does not get it all.
A small charger at 7 amps or less takes more than 8 hours depending on the >depth of discharge< at the beginning of the charge interval.
The lower the charge current, the longer it takes.
Then throw in Battery age, making it longer yet.
Good luck.

I just now gone to Ford General Service Bulletin - 12 volt charging and testing.
it's the one I referred to.
Look at the second page line on state of charge.
Normally the Battery will be in the 12 to 12.5 v range before cranking if the Battery is up where should be..
Try it.
Good luck.
