Question Perimeter Plus?

I'm rusty at using the site so bear with me if this has been beaten to death elsewhere. Just picked up a low mileage 2022 F150 XLT (Ford Certified Used), with the perimeter alarm, which if I understand correctly, only protects against unauthorized entry without a key or FOB but doesn't detect a window break or movement of the vehicle. I wanted to add the Perimeter Plus option to guard against a window break or attempt to haul it away, with the addition of the shock sensor included. I went to the Ford parts site, plugged in my VIN, and got this number - part #ML3Z19A361A as the part that works for my truck. I checked with my local Ford dealer to see if they could order and install it and was told Ford offers no such upgrade for my truck. Anybody done one of these on a 2022 XLT?

Here's the test.

Open the window of the truck.
Close the door and lock it.
Wait a minute (I think you only need 30 seconds).
Stick your arm in the window and wave it around. If the alarm goes off, you have the motion sensors (don't think it will).
Now, take your fist and whack the steering wheel. This will activate the motion sensor, you should get a little honk. If that doesn't work, even hitting the door glass with the palm of your hand should set it off.
Jumping in the bed also will get you a honk (as will slamming the tailgate or tonneau cover).

If it doesn't go off, then you don't have it.

If you have the window sticker look under security for advanced security pack, this gives you the sensors.

My truck has the Advanced Security Pack...but does not have motion sensors inside. It does have the perimeter alarm though. If I'm not mistaken you have to be at the 502 trim and above for the motion sensors...at least for the '21 model like mine.

From the sticker and testing I already know I only have the basic "Perimeter Alarm" (a misnomer IMO) which is really just horn and lights for unauthorized opening of the doors, hood, or tailgate if they are opened without a valid fob, key, or code. There are no motion or sound sensors in the truck. The part I mentioned supposedly just adds a 2-stage shock sensor that goes off if someone hits a window or tries to move the truck - it does not add motion or sound sensing. It also adds remote start if you don't have it (mine does). My question is if someone who has the "basic" Perimeter Alarm like my truck, has added the Perimeter Plus module to a 2022 with the kit. I'm trying to guard against someone breaking a window to grab items I have inside my truck during a normal workday.

Hey @gopher5145 I just added it to my 2023 PB BUT cannot seem to get it learned to the truck. Did you pull the trigger with the dealer?

No, never did. I thought about just ordering it. My understanding was it's plug-and-play and have seen statements that no programing is required to get it to work. But I have also seen videos where a guy is dismantling the dash of a F250 to install it, and comments about having to use FORscan to activate it. That part about FORscan may only be for the remote start setup - which I don't need.

It ended up I was installing it incorrectly and that is why I couldn't enable it. Dealer got it going for me. I used my FordPass points so not really out anything since I couldn't think of another reason I would use the. I checked before and after FORScan ASBUILTS. Many IPMA changes to addresses that are unclear in description. I PM LivnItUp to see if he wants them.

Hey @kquinn9999 I saw your post about the Ford perimeter plus addon you got on your 23 PB. I wanted to ask if this was the correct part number ML3Z19A361A. I have a 23 PB Platinum and on the Ford Accessories website it says it is compatible with my model year but when I put my vin on FordParts.com it says it is not compatible. I wanted to see if you knew anything about that. Also how much did the dealer charge for installation and where did they install the unit so you could adjust the sensitivity? Thanks!
