Default Orders pulled every Thursday?

Context:
  • I placed an order through the dealer on Friday, December 11th.
  • My sales rep told me that Ford "pulls" orders every Thursday, so he expected my order would be pulled Thursday December 17th.
  • I heard from him today (21st) and he notified me my order was not pulled last week, maybe because of the holidays, and he's "hoping" it will get get pulled this week.
Questions:
  1. Is it correct that orders are pulled every Thursday?
  2. Is there a legitimate reason why it wasn't pulled last week? If not, should I work with a different dealer that knows what they are talking about?

1. Yes.

2. Either your dealer doesn't have enough allocation or you have an option on the commodities list.

Thanks for the reply, Pioneer! I don't have the Max Tow, but I do have the work surface. Maybe that's why.

Most orders are not pulled after one week, especially this close to a new model launch. I can almost guarantee your dealer has a bunch of orders already scheduled and doesn't have the allocation

I also believe that no orders will be pulled this week or next do the the holiday. Assuming that is the case the first day you could expect to get your order pulled and serialized would be Jan 7. In addition, although not following the scheduled weeks carefully, it is likely that your truck would not be scheduled to be built near the end of February with a estimated delivery time to the dealer somewhere in early March...

There are a lot of Retail orders still backed up in the system. My truck was ordered Aug 24 and was just pulled Dec 3, now this is a bit of a different condition as no Retail (customer order) build could be pulled until Dec 3 and these truck were scheduled to be built either the last week in Jan or first week in Feb. I believe that some trucks ordered in Sept / Oct were pulled the 3rd or the 10th of Dec, just to give you a idea on when to expect your truck. I did run into some limited commodities with my order that may have delayed it a couple of weeks but suspect that the listed build weeks have been filled out.

Almost makes you think that different dealers' orders are pulled different days of the week. I cannot imagine that many orders being dumped on the Regional Distribution Office at one time.

When you get a print out, you'll find an allocation number. Dealers have the ability to set orders from #10 to #99--on the order they want that order to be built. They would usually set a rush retail order as a #10. Ford has control of allocation numbers #1 to #9. They're set to be built first. I would think that stock orders will have higher allocation numbers, and if they're "not scheduled" the dealer can change the allocation number and put a rush retail unit in its place.

Retail orders have priority between 10 and 19. 20 to, I think it tops out at 80, is for stock orders. The lower the number the better.

You also have to take into account dealer allocation. The lowest number won't help if the dealer doesn't have allocation.

In general, all orders for all dealers are scheduled on Thursdays. There are exceptions and I've had some schedule on odd days, but those are usually major fleet orders. Scheduling will not resume until the first full week of January.

Your order was not scheduled for one of the two reasons listed above, dealer has no allocation left, or there is an option in your build that is constrained.

Hopefully someone can answer my question regarding my build date. My dealer confirmed yesterday that my build date is still set for 1/11. Considering that they wont be scheduling any new orders until the 4th due to the holidays, can I assume that my build date wont change unless one of my options (work surface) runs out as has been the case each week?

If you already have a build date, Ford has all the parts to make your order.
