I read from Granger Ford's post in a different forum from July 31, 2020...

This can be extended to conventional customers but you would need to check with your local dealership to see if they would do it. Do not be alarmed if they say no..it it their choice not Fords or ours..

How does the money side of it work in this situation, do you still pay the original dealer or the dealer that you collect from?

The original dealer is paid. Ford can send it to any dealership, and the dealer that you collect from.. they don't have to accept it for you. From what I am reading, most don't though.

It makes sense though....why would I want to accept the manpower of accepting a truck that was not bought through my site? I get it.

I think the Granger guys commented in another thread about this. The delivering dealer receives the PDI money and the selling dealer gets everything else. The bigger challenge is that Granger openly sells under invoice to anyone for the asking. Fantastic for customers, not so much for competing dealers that want to hold gross.

When you order somewhere else to get a lower price, it’s a reasonable response from your local dealer to resent you circumventing their store and then asking for a favor that benefits the guys who helped you do it. I’m curious if some dealers are willing to do this if they’re low on inventory + allocations. In other words, if they had no chance at making the sale, would they still want the PDI money and opportunity to gain your business in service.

Right, akin to Granger selling awesome deals on somebody else's turf. That's why I got the impression that I may have a hard time getting them to accept a shipment from Granger. Granger did make it clear that it's likely that the local dealership will refuse to accept.

I don't know how much the PDI money is though... so many if's here.

Pretty sure I saw $500 somewhere. Not sure if that’s accurate. I would start by answering the question “what does my dealer get for doing this” and go from there. I would also consider the possibility of the truck having an issue at delivery (scuffed paint, missing feature, etc) and managing your own expectations of what the local dealer will do for you.

I’m in the same boat as you. Probably going to skip the drama and just pick up at Granger if Ford ever builds my truck.

Heard a lot of good of Granger. They even recommend a commercial delivery (ThreeMovers). Just give them a call or shoot them an email to discuss your options, always works out the best.
