Order Cancelled!!!
We placed our order for a F-150 XLT SuperCrew 5.0 V-8 6.5' bed on 01/21/2022. The order was acknowledged 1/27/2022. No further correspondence from Ford until 08/18/2022... (note that we had many conversations with the dealer over those 7 months)...
As promised, we want to update you on the status of your F-150 XLT order. We are still experiencing delays due to the supply chain challenges that Ford and our industry are facing at this time. Please understand that while getting your vehicle into production is taking longer than usual, we are doing all we can to minimize the delays.
There’s nothing we want more than to deliver your new F-150 XLT. We are fully committed to keeping you updated on your vehicle’s status, and will let you know as more information becomes available. We apologize for any inconvenience, and truly appreciate your patience and understanding.
Then another note from Ford on 10/03/2022...
Thank you again for your F-150 XLT order. We wanted to let you know that we are still up against supply chain challenges, which are causing delays with getting your vehicle into production. While we understand how frustrated you may be (we are too), rest assured, our team is working diligently and aggressively to get you behind the wheel.
We know how much anticipation there is when it comes to getting a new Ford, so we will continue to keep you updated. In the meantime, we apologize for any inconvenience and remain grateful for your patience and understanding.
Then a call from the dealer on 10/28/2022 informing us that the order was cancelled! Holy S--t!!!
No communications about what part/parts they could/couldn't get or what configuration they could actually deliver. This is a real problem for us, as, believe it or not Ford, we do have a life. We expected the wait, we understand the supply chain shortages, but not even a conversation? If they can't or don't want to build these things, say so and we will move on. To wait 10 months for nothing is insulting. We believe the problem was with the HD Towing/Max Payload combination, but we really do not know. What we do know is that, using a consultant, we were able to find that configuration on a lesser equipped XLT on a dealer's lot in California (we are in Illinois). This was done in 2 days! So, they can build them, just not for us. Of course, we missed out on $2000 in incentives and 0% financing, and get to enjoy a price increase. Possible motives for the cancellation?
We are wondering if anyone else has experienced a cancellation recently. Prior to this event, we were led to believe that Ford was good when it came to committments they make regarding customer orders. If this kind of treatment is Ford's new normal, it can't bode well for their future.
