Default Factory Order Turnaround Times

So today I test drove a version of the F150 that I will be submitting for a factory order and the salesman told me that the factory order turnaround time from order to delivery is around 6 months. 6 months?!?!? Is this accurate to what everyone has experienced so far? I was hoping to be in it for the summer...please tell me this guy was wrong.

Barring anymore commodity shortages, and depending on your specific build, and not withstanding the shipping distance, I would guesstimate 12 to 14 weeks.

Some go faster. Some go slower.

Day of order to day of pickup was exactly 2 months for me. They even put a rush order on some differential rust for me, no extra charge.

With chip issues and soon plastics, every order is going to be delayed from norm.

I ordered a month ago in February and my *current* scheduled build week is April 19... 2 months later. So I’m guessing I’m looking at 3 months in total. However... not sure how the latest supply issues may or may not impact this.

I know everything will be a bit slow but I wasn't expecting to hear 6 months. I might as well wait for the 22 if that's the case. I'm glad to hear that 2-3 months seems to be the constant.

Just picked mine up yesterday. Ordered Dec 21st so mine was just at 3 months. Sat in Kansas City built for almost a month. The transportation is slow. Not enough truckers.

The salesman sounds like he is honest and smart.

If he says 6 months and you have the truck in 4 months youll be a happy camper. If the salesman tells you 2 months to 3 months at worst, youll be irritated when it arrives at 4 months.

Evidently, now there is a plastic shortage used to make F150 parts. Not to be confused with the ongoing chip shortage, North Pole weather and covid that all contributed to this F150 rollout debacle. Estimates are that Ford will lose 2 billion this year because of the never ending delays and problems.

Anyone trying to predict delivery is basing that off history.

History is not a predictor of the future in this case due to everchanging conditions.

Therefore, all these predictions are simply guesses.

However, the salesman is just BSing. If production is running (i.e. not an order placed before production started), then it never takes 6 months without a major snafu.

Edit:

Oh look, more news that no one anticipated:

Renesas Chip-Plant Fire Spreads Concerns About Global Auto Production

A fire at a factory of one of the world’s leading auto chip makers has added to the troubles of car makers that already have slashed production because of a semiconductor shortage.

The fire Friday left a swath of charred equipment in the factory owned by a subsidiary of Renesas Electronics Corp. RNECY -2.99% in Hitachinaka, northeast of Tokyo. The company said it would take at least a month to restart the damaged operations.

Renesas said a power surge caused the fire and contaminated clean rooms needed to make semiconductors. It said two-thirds of the affected production lines were making automotive chips.

Renesas’s chief executive, Hidetoshi Shibata, said Sunday the impact on global chip supplies would be significant.

I ordered today. The dealer said they are seeing 3-4 months on orders now but worried on the seat cushion foam issues are going to make it worse. https://news.yahoo.com/seat-foam-sho...180000890.html
