Default OEM tailgate damper?

Hi, wanting to install tailgate asist on my 2022, I'd usually go with dee-zee, but don't like the part where the bottle opener needs to be taken off. so I did some search, for 2020 and prior, there is an OEM damper system hiding inside passenger side tail light, and the part number is: FL3Z-99406A10-A, from every source I've looked, it doesn't fit 2021+ f150s,
Then I came across another part number: ML3Z5D008C that suppose to fit 2021+ f150s, but when I enter this part number at several ford dealer online parts store and every one of them said it doesn't fit my vehicle.
wondering if anyone had installed this and what's the OEM part number for 2021+ tailgate damper.
Thanks

I just installed an OEM Ford tailgate damper on my 2022 F150. It's extremely easy to do. Here is a link to the one I got from Fairway Ford's eBay page. It comes with instructions but this video illustrates the process perfectly. I really like the OEM damper because it's completely hidden from view. I took it a step further and painted my bracket so it would match my truck.

Got ya a couple of pics but nothing that's any better than video above. You'll like it! You'll find this forum can be a better reference than parts book sometimes about fit. I just put the trans skid plate on mine to hide the cats, the online sites said it was only for 17-20 and my dealer that I ordered from shows it for an Expedition! Fits perfect, someone else tried it and posted results or I would have spent way more.

Do they not all come with the factory damper? Only asking because mine is dampened but no assist feature. I realize that’s an aftermarket add-on, but I assumed they were all dampened. Unless that’s only available on the trucks with the tailgate release inside or on the key fob? Just educating myself…

no, lower trims don't come with the damper, I don't know if damper == remote opening. i.e. ford offers them as seperate features or a bundle, if you have remote opening, you must have dampened tailgate, but not the other way around. to be fair, the ford tailgate is much lighter than my traded in ram, I guess thanks to aluminum construction.
