Default MPG question…

My son bought a new 2024 F150 3.5 Ecoboost, max tow package about a year ago and I bought a nice low mile 2022 F150 equipped the same way about 7 months ago. We drive about the same way, pretty conservative. His mpg readout is over 24 mpg while Mine is 17.8. Both vehicles run great and are well maintained. Why the big difference in the mpg’s? The only real noticeable difference in the trucks is mine is single exhaust and his is dual. Could the antimatter blue be emitting some type of force field or is it just the way the computer calculates the mpg?

Are you actually computing the numbers or doing off of what the computer says? Does one of you drive like Grandma and the other drives like a 16 year old?

Don’t go by the mpg readout. Calculate manually.

Just going off the computer. We both drive conservative, far from teenagers. I thought I saw something a while ago about being able to manipulate the computer bias for mpg, maybe a forscan change.

Different tires? Different gear ratio? Switch trucks, reset trip meter, and see how mpgs turn out.

Are you sure your son's isn't actually a PowerBoost? His 24mpg readout seems unbelievable for a non-PowerBoost. I would bet yours is more accurate, though maybe you have a brake pad dragging or something similar that's reducing fuel economy.

One of you driving in ECO mode? That could make a difference!

Using the lie oh meter is like listening to two men compare lengths.
