Default MPG Issue

Hello Folks

Thanks for letting me join the group. I am a huge ford fan have had some many over the years.. So I had 7 f150's in 11 years all with the 3.5 ecoboost engine, always got like 21-22 mpg. I just bought a 2021 hybrid 3.5 ecoboost and the sticker said 24 city and 24 highway. I am about 2500 miles in and I am only getting 19 or 20 . It is always in the" eco" mode as suggested. No change in driving habits Wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue on this hybrid. I will take it to the dealer as well. Thanks for listening! .

What roads are you driving? Climate has an effect too. 20 on winter gas, 4x4 with a 7.2 kwh inverter really doesn't seem off. Powerboost benefits from the MPG gains of city driving. On an open highway you're carrying a lot of extra weight, a RWD 2.7 gets better mileage in those conditions.

If you are driving a lot of high speed highway miles where you are mainly using the 3.5l Ecoboost, you have to take into account that you are hauling an additional 500 lbs with you having the hybrid. That 500 lbs is going to hurt mileage; EPA highway numbers aren't achieved at 80 mph; I saw the test profile somewhere, and I don't believe they even hit 60 mph.

Thank you Bob I had not even thought about the inverter adding extra weight that’s a very good point I’m not sure if you can get a hybrid without the inverter or not I just happen to be with this model that I picked out from a dealer inventory I do believe the 2.7 L would get great gas mileage my driving habits are pretty much mixed of a little bit of Highway in a lot of country roads as I say my driving habits haven’t really changed I do realize winter sometimes affects mileage especially with the turbos I had so many these trucks I’ve just never experience one go down this low but I think you bring up a valid point thank you for your time

I drive mix of country back roads and city driving. On average according to the truck I get between 21 and 23 mpg. But the colder it is the worse the mpg is. Running the heater is killer on my mpg because the electric motor never kicks in.

I have the 2021 platinum 4WD and am 2200 miles in. Was getting 18-19 average lately getting just over 20. Definitely haven’t seen much of the 24 epa unless a lot of downhill area

Welcome. Lots of threads on this topic. Here's a recent one: https://www.f150forum.com/f129/2021-...513618/index7/

Net/net, it varies a LOT for a seeming limitless number of variables. Personally, I live in CA, drive about 75% highway (either 75-85 or bumper-to-bumper). Modest hills. 7700 miles in my gauge says 20.5 lifetime. As soon as you dive into the other threads, you'll see lots of owners don't trust that and do their own calculations. After reading a lot of other threads, yours doesn't seem out of line.
